Chabad and Yeshiva University

$100.00Price

In 1941, Rav Yosef Dov Halevi Soloveitchik, also known as “The Rav”, succeeded his father as Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanan/Yeshiva University. A decade later, Rav Menachem Mendel Schneerson, “The Rebbe”, succeeded his father-in-law and became the 7th Lubavitcher Rebbe. This book looks at the relationship between these two great leaders, between the two dynasties which they were part of, and between the two institutions which they led and shaped: Yeshiva University/RIETS and Chabad/Tomchei Temimim.

The book explores The Rav and The Rebbe’s attitudes and ideas about Chasidus, secular studies, women’s education, and more, and the often-overlooked or unknown interactions between their ancestors. The study and growing popularity of Chasidus in Yeshiva University is addressed, as well as a deep dive into how the Talmudic methodology of the Rav and the Rebbe corresponds with each of their world-views and philosophy.

The book's editor, Dr. Eli Rachlin, added nuanced and critical analysis of these two giants and their holy institutions. The 320 endnotes add immeasurably to the book’s value, with many thought-provoking extended notes providing food for thought and suggesting areas for further study.

This book complements Rabbi Dalfin's first book on this topic, Rav and Rebbe (2016).  A must-read for all students of The Rav and The Rebbe!
